The man who does not abandon

Doran has explored more tunnels and trails of Vhar-Kaz than any other man alive. He knows every level of the mines, every corridor, every warning the ground gives before it gives way. He is not the strongest. Nor the fastest. But he is the one who always comes back.

In the world of Drakhthar, where loyalty is the scarcest currency, Doran is one of the few who always pays with his own. When he gives his word, it is a pact. When he chooses to stay, it is because the others need him.

“I don't need reasons to stay. I only need reasons to leave. And I have none.”

His role in the saga

Doran is the moral compass of the group. In a universe where motives grow tangled and alliances fracture, he stands for something simpler and harder at the same time: doing what is right, whatever it costs.

His story in the Chronicles of Drakhthar is the story of what it means to stay faithful to the end — and what that end can cost.

Relationships

Doran shares an expedition with Borik through Book I and Book II — between them lies a trust forged in the field, not in words. His knowledge of Vhar-Kaz places him in the same world as Master Durak and the Forge Clan, though his loyalty belongs to no clan in particular: it belongs to those who trust in him.
